HELIOS - Troubleshooting - Safe Mode

Description

This guide outlines the causes and troubleshooting measures for the HELIOS tile alert: "Safe Mode".

Identifying Tiles in Safe Mode

Users will recognize tiles in Safe Mode when an alert is flagged under the Health tab in HELIOS, labeled "Tile is running in Safe Mode. Try reloading firmware." Additionally, users will see SAFE_TILE in the spot where the model name of the tile would normally be on the Mapping page.

  • Health > Alerts

  •  Mapping > Tile Details

Background

A tile in safe mode indicates a serious malfunction of the tile. Possible causes include:

  • Corrupted firmware: Issues with installed or running firmware.
  • Faulty power supply: Leading to the tile repeatedly booting/shutting down within a set timeframe.
  • Environmental factors: Such as moisture affecting a tile's hardware.

Troubleshooting

Begin by completely powering down the tile for approximately 5 minutes by disconnecting the electrical power. Then reconnect and restart the tile. Carefully inspect all components, particularly those associated with the tile's power supply, for any signs of instability.

Next, check that the system firmware can be reinstalled as a corrupted firmware is a possible cause of the issue.

Reboot and check that the tile is able to successfully boot.

If the issue persists, and the tile continues to boot into Safe Mode after a complete power cycle and software reinstall, please reach out to support@megapixelvr.com and include your system's log files for further assistance.
