Description
This guide outlines the steps necessary to update the HELIOS processor, along with network switches and LED tiles.
Background
Megapixel is committed to providing timely and essential updates for all our products, enhancing functionality and addressing any identified issues. We strongly recommend regularly checking the software versions on your system to ensure they are operating with the most current builds.
Note: We recommend reading the release notes for further details about a particular release. All our release notes can be found here: https://megapixelvr.com/product-support/helios/
Steps to Update (with HELIOS internet connection)
In the HELIOS web interface, navigate to Settings > Update Center > Check for updates... then select the latest version (identified by a green up-arrow) and download to the HELIOS.
Once the download has finished, the file will be automatically selected for install. Select Start to begin the update process. The files will be extracted, and then the installation process begins.
During this time, the Connection lost. Attempting to reconnect... alert will display.
As the update finishes, the connection will be re-established. Verify that the update has completed successfully by checking the HELIOS versions using the Check for updates... button again. This time, all the arrows should be horizontal white arrows, indicating that the current running version is the current release version.
If any versions still have green up-arrows, those components still need to be updated. Repeat the process to install the update on those devices. Otherwise, no further action is needed.
Steps to Update (without HELIOS internet connection)
If you system does not have the ability to download the update from our servers, then you can manually download the update file, save it locally, and then install it on the HELIOS. Download the latest release from our HELIOS support page: https://megapixelvr.com/product-support/helios/
The HELIOS_Platform_Release_versionnumber.zip folder contains the release notes, along with HELIOS, switch, and PX1 firmware as .mvrp files. Uploading the platform release .zip file or the individual .mvrp files will work.
HELIOS Update
In the HELIOS web interface, navigate to Settings > Update Center > Upload then select the appropriate version from your file browser. Use the Select drop-down list to select the update package that was uploaded. Then click Start to begin the update process.
PX1 Update
Once the HELIOS system has been updated, the firmware for the PX1 Tile receiver cards can be upgraded using a similar process. Upload the PX1 firmware using the px1-versionnumber.mvrp file contained within the HELIOS_Platform_Release_version.mvrp file. Then click Start.
Network Switch Update
Once the HELIOS system has been updated, the firmware for the network switch can be upgraded using a similar process. Upload the switch firmware using the helios-switches-version.mvrp file contained within the HELIOS_Platform_Release_version.mvrp file. Then click Start.
