HELIOS - Quick Seams

Description

Sometimes alignment on panels is not quite right.  Bright lines (seams) occur when module edges are too close together.  Alternatively, dark lines (seams) occur when module edges are too far apart.  HELIOS provides a toolset for managing these mis-aligned seams.

Adjusting the Seams

When adjusting seams, it's important to take a few conditions into consideration.  First, make sure that the person adjusting seams is doing so from a normal viewing location (ie. on axis and normal viewing distance).  It is also important to make sure to use a flat field pattern (white is best) for doing the correction.  This eliminates any issues with uneven content or moving content giving false problems.

There are two options for correcting seams, Tile seams and LDM seams.  Tile seams are larger seams that span the entire tile boundary.  They will persist in the same spot on the wall even if the tile is replaced.  LDM seams are internal to the tiles and correct for module to module differences. The correction done to these seams will stick with the tile even if you move the tile around physically (the seams will move with the tiles).

Step 1: Click on one of the seams in the Seams menu.  The user can now navigate around the seams by using the arrows keys on the keyboard.

Step 2: If needed, press "F" on the keyboard to flip between horizontal and vertical seams.

Step 3: When the correct seam is selected, use the "shift + up/down" keys to make the seam brighter or dimmer.

Step 4: Repeat this process for all of the seams in the wall that need correction.
